Our dedicated professionals prepared their system for the Summer Olympic games streams, supported the system architecture for the “Fight Night” event which was streamed to 450k people simultaneously and continuously supported their further development.

Key points

Joyn GmbH is a joint venture between Discovery Inc. and ProSiebenSat.1 Media, which deals in media streaming and operates the streaming service of the same name.

Joyn is a streaming platform that provides its users with AVOD and SVOD content as well as live TV programs. Joyn is currently available in Germany and Austria and has around 10 million monthly active users.

The platform consists of a robust system of microservices, each one with a specific set of tasks, ranging from mapping the asset metadata, calculating suggested content to users, exporting data to partners like Apple TV and Google TV, and much more. All clients communicate to the backend through a single GraphQL endpoint.

Friendly user interface

The platform offers an easy way to navigate through the vast amount of content and gives personalized suggestions to each individual user.

Personalized Content

On the main page, content is grouped and presented to users inside unique lanes. These lanes are calculated in a specific service that provides layout data.

Entertaining ideas

One of the unique features of Joyn is that it combines both on-demand series and movies and live TV alike. To make users’ TV watching experience easier, a specific service is in place, which is responsible for calculating the EPG schedules.
