We're the AI engineering partner enterprises bring in when the work has to be right the first time: regulated data, production load, and systems that have been running for a decade before we arrive. You'd be opening a market for a team that has already delivered at that scale, with senior engineers beside you from the first call and case studies that put numbers next to every claim you make.

Business Development Representative

Netherlands, UK, or GermanyFull-timeMid to SeniorBusiness Development

We're expanding our business development efforts across Europe and this is our first location-based hire. We're looking for someone well connected in one of three markets, the Netherlands, the UK, or Germany, who will help us open it properly rather than wait for it to open on its own. You'll live there, you'll already know which companies are worth a conversation, and for most of them you'll be the first person from Nortik they meet.

This isn't a role where you read from a script and hand a lead to somebody else. Our teams are small, so the person who opens a conversation stays in it: you'll sit in the discovery call beside an architect, help shape what we propose, and stay close through to signature. You don't need to write code. You do need to be technical enough to hold a credible conversation with a CTO about what AI will and won't do for their business, and honest enough to say when we're not the right partner for it.

What will be your responsibilities?

You'll own your market from an empty pipeline. That means picking the accounts worth going after and being able to explain the logic, running research-led outbound that reads as though a person wrote it, working the network you already have, and showing up where your buyers actually are: meetups, conferences, partner events, and the local ecosystem around them. Nobody will hand you a list.

From the first reply onward you qualify: understanding what the company is actually trying to build, what their data and their team can support, and whether the work fits what we do well. You'll bring an architect into the room at the right moment, help shape the proposal, keep the commercial thread moving through procurement and legal, and hand over to delivery without the client having to repeat themselves. You'll also keep the CRM honest, because a forecast nobody trusts is worse than no forecast.

As the market opens you'll help define how we go to it: which industries answer, which of our services land first, what we should say differently in Amsterdam than in London or Berlin, and where a local partnership beats another hundred emails. You'll feed all of that back to marketing and the founders, and when we add the next commercial hire in your region, the playbook they start from is the one you wrote.

This position is made for you, if you:

  • Have opened a market or a territory before, and can talk through what worked, what didn't, and how long it actually took.
  • Are genuinely well connected in the Netherlands, the UK, or Germany, and live in the market you'd be opening.
  • Have a go-getter mindset: an empty pipeline reads as an opportunity rather than a problem to escalate.
  • Can hold a technical conversation without pretending to be an engineer, and know exactly when to bring one in.
  • Qualify out as readily as you qualify in, and would rather lose a deal early than deliver a bad one.
  • Sell consultatively: you ask about the business problem before you talk about what we sell.
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity. You'd be the first commercial hire in your market, so the process is partly yours to write.
  • Are organised by default: follow-ups happen, notes get written, the CRM matches reality.
  • Communicate clearly and directly in English, in writing especially. We're remote, so most decisions live in a document or a thread.
  • Give and take direct feedback without it becoming personal.
  • Are happy to travel within your market for client meetings and events.

Commercial skills

  • Three or more years in B2B business development or sales, selling software engineering, consulting, or technology services rather than a product with a price list.
  • At least €3 million driven in B2B technology or outsourcing sales, and the detail to stand behind the number: which deals, over what period, and what your part in each of them was.
  • Comfort being measured: you can walk through the targets you carried honestly, including the quarters that missed.
  • Outbound craft: account research, sequences you wrote yourself, calls you're willing to make, and a reply rate you can defend.
  • A qualification and discovery method you actually use, whether that's MEDDIC, SPICED, or something you built yourself.
  • Experience selling to CTOs, VPs of Engineering, Heads of Data, and founders, and the confidence to be in that room alone.
  • Comfort across deal shapes, from a single augmented engineer to a multi-quarter product build, and the judgement to know which one a client is really asking for.
  • Enough working knowledge of what an AI engineering partner sells to scope a conversation roughly: agents, retrieval, data platforms, and end-to-end product work.
  • Fluency with a CRM and the tooling around it: HubSpot is our default, alongside LinkedIn Sales Navigator and the usual enrichment stack.
  • Comfortable presenting: a partner event, a conference stand, or a first call with six people on it.
  • Bonus: native or fluent Dutch or German for your market, and an existing network in fintech, healthcare, logistics, or B2B SaaS.

What you'll be selling

Nortik is an AI engineering agency, and our work spans AI products, fintech, healthcare, logistics, and B2B SaaS. Companies bring us in when something has to be built properly and quickly: AI consulting when they need to know what's worth building, end-to-end product development when they want the whole thing owned, a dedicated engineering team when their roadmap is bigger than their team, and staff augmentation when they need senior people for a high season. Some engagements are greenfield; plenty are AI capability threaded into a system that's been running for a decade.

The easy part of this job is that the proof exists. We have production systems running for clients you'll recognise, engineers senior enough to sit in a technical conversation on day one, and case studies that put numbers next to the claims. The hard part is that we sell judgement rather than headcount, so the deals are consultative, the buyer is usually technical, and nobody closes one by being persistent. If that's the sale you want to be making, we should talk.

Our hiring process

Intro call

Forty-five minutes with a founder, not a recruiter. We go through what you have actually closed and the numbers behind it, then through your network in the Netherlands, the UK, or Germany: who you know, how well, and which doors you could open in the first quarter. You get the same candour back about what we build and who for.

Meeting in person

A day together, in your market or at our office in Novi Sad. You meet the founders and the architects who'd sit in your client calls, we go deeper on how you'd open the territory, and you ask the uncomfortable questions about targets, territory, and commission. Nobody opens a market for a team they've only met on a screen.

Offer

We move fast here: a decision within a few days of the meeting, with the offer, the package, and the reasoning behind both laid out in writing. If it's a no, you get the actual reason.
